Large Flashlights: Which One Is Right For You?

If there is one thing you need in a blackout, it’s a good, sturdy, large flashlight. There are so many out there on the market, it can be hard to choose just the right one. There are certain things you should look for and things you should know before you pick one out. Whether you need it for emergencies, hiking, search and rescue, you should know what large flashlights are right for your needs. Below we have created a list of things you should be looking for when you are looking to buy large flashlights that are just right for your needs. If you want to know what these tips are then keep reading below for more information on how to choose the right large flashlight for yourself.

  • Lumens – This is the first thing you should get acquainted with when looking to buy a decent torch. Don’t be confused by the word, how many lumens your torch has is essentially how bright it’s going to be. A torch with few lumens is probably better for around the house or in a blackout. A torch with many lumens means that it is probably designed for the outdoors so you can see at a greater distance. You should choose lumens based on what you need the torch for.
  • Batteries – This is something else you should consider when looking to buy large torches. Having a torch with your everyday style of battery is great but they can easily drain out and you do need to replace them pretty often which can be pricey. You can find many models that come with a rechargeable battery option which you might pay a little more upfront, but it certainly repays itself in the long run.
  • Colour Beam – If you are someone who plans to take your torch into the outdoors then there is the option of colour beams you should look at as well. Some torches come with the option where the light changes colour for different purposes. White light is general and is pretty all purpose. Red colour beams are meant for night vision but can also be used in emergencies to signal for help. Green is used for hunting and fishing as fish don’t get startled from the colour. Blue is used by police or to track traces of blood and bodily fluids.
  • Budget – Before you go and splurge on the most expensive torch in the store you should decide on a budget. You should never buy a torch that you can’t afford so stick to your budget and look at torches in that price range. A great way you can see what models are available to you is by looking online. There is a much great selection of large flashlights online and you can easily compare prices and specifications from different stores to know if you are getting the best deal possible.
